5 Reasons You Don’t Want to Miss Monday’s Lucky FABB

Posted on April 29, 2012 by Lorraine Sanders in Beauty, Blogging, Digital Style News, Events No Comments

Just a few of the speakers who'll be at Lucky FABB West on Monday

Headed to Lucky FABB West on Monday? You’ll be in good company. For the first West Coast installation of Lucky magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Blogger conference, panels and workshops will feature an impressive lineup that includes everyone from Hollywood darlings to reality TV stars to celebrity bloggers to big name designers – all focused on the digital fashion and beauty landscape.

If you’re not already clearing your Monday calendar to see it all in person or catch the speakers via livestream (which, incidentally, every conference in this space should really start offering), here are five reasons you’ll want to start:

1.All-star line-up: While some blogger-centric conferences really keep panelists and keynote speakers within the blogosphere and others sway solidly toward the business side (both tactics that can and do produce great results, by the way), this conference stands out for the combined diversity and star-studdedness of its speakers. You’ll spot Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Alba, Zac Posen, Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant and Kelly Wearstler talking digital style alongside the likes of blogging favorites Bri Emery, Aimee Song, Geri Hirsch, Jenni Radosevich and Macala Wright, among many others.

2. The person sitting next to you might be as intriguing as the panelists: This is not one of those conferences where the official panelists and speakers are the only ones with industry know-how. Among the attendees are prominent bloggers with serious followings and lots to say about the fashion and beauty blogging landscape. Prepare for breakout sessions that may be as valuable as the main panels and workshops.

3. News you can use: With panels focused on topics such as blog monetization, working with brands and staying true to your voice, it’s likely you’ll walk away from it all with a list of must-dos and tips that are not only food for thought, but fuel for change on your blog.

4. Brand awareness: Want connections with brands in the space? Many are either participating in the conference (Cynthia Vincent, J Brand, Benefit, Urban Decay, Drybar) or acting as sponors (Zappos.com, P&G, Samsung, Jellypop, Michael Stars, Miss Me, LeSportsac and Tacori). While it’s no guarantee you’ll end up working with them in the future, it’s a foot in the door should you want it.

5. Location, location, location: Sure, you can’t really beat New York, where previous Lucky FABB conferences have taken place. But for those of us who like a little sun and sand with our power-networking, it doesn’t get much better than the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica. A midday beach break is the perfect place to clear your head, return can’t-wait calls and refresh before the next panel.

For those watching online, you’ll be able to interact with attendees and speakers via Twitter. But West Coasters, set your alarms. The livestream starts at 8:30 a.m. PST.
