At one time, subscription-based shopping sites were, like crowd-sourced deals and flash sales before them, the newest way to shop. But with roll out of so many sites requiring a monthly commitment over the last three years, shoppers these days have a plethora of options to choose from. And that, of course, begs the question, who’s the best?
To answer that, you’ll have to first ask yourself what being the best really means. To the folks at Next Advisor, an independent research site that compares all kinds of companies and consumer services, being the best means offering an top-quality product alongside great customer service and an enjoyable shopping experience.
With that in mind, editors at Next Advisor recently released the Fashion Clubs Comparison Chart (see below). While StyleMint and SendTheTrend received the best rankings for quality from the company’s researchers, ShoeDazzle and JustFabulous scored 4 out of 5. JewelMint came in with the lowest quality score, with just 3 out of 5. The best overall shopping experience went to SendTheTrend. The editors conducting the research found the customer service at ShoeDazzle, SendTheTrend and StyleMint to be top-notch, while JustFabulous and JewelMint ranked lower.
The surprise comes in the final results. While SendTheTrend outranked ShoeDazzle in two categories (product quality and shopping experience), Next Advisor editors tapped ShoeDazzle as the best overall site. Although it received the same number of stars as several others in the survey, the company’s recent decision to axe its subscription requirement and allow shoppers to browse and buy commitment-free is presumably what sent it to the top of the pack.
So in the end, if quality and customer service are up against freedom to buy when and what you prefer, it may just be that the latter is the best customer service of all.
