Bay Area-based online media company Zimbio Inc. announced $8.9 million in Series B funding this evening, and that means more money in the coffers for those running the company’s two sites, Zimbio.com and StyleBistro.com. The company plans to use this latest round of capital, led by Menlo Ventures, to build its editorial and sales teams and fund new projects.
That team-expansion piece should be welcome news to the many of you out there angling for new gigs in the Valley’s burgeoning fashion-meets-tech space (which incidentally, suddenly seems like the very thing most fashion-y women I run into are looking for these days. And that’s not at all surprising. Everyone who thought moving to New York or L.A. was inevitable to work “in fashion” has something of an alternative.)
But back to Zimbio’s news. The combined sites reach an audience of over 30 million readers each month, and the company just opened a second New York office, according to a company’s statement. Its headquarters is located in San Carlos.
No word on what the new means for StyleBistro.com fashion content, but it’s all aboard the Bethenny train in my household (okay, maybe I’m my household’s only passenger). I’ll check back just to see what quotable quotes she’s churning out in her guest ed. posts.
