When San Francisco Fashion Week kicks off on Monday, you’ll notice a little something different about the approach to fashion: a serious emphasis on the intersection of fashion and tech. While it’s certainly no surprise that fashion fans in the Bay often have one foot in technology and the other on in a pair of locally-produced selvege denim jeans, the crossover between the fashion and tech crowds has been ramping up over the last year, so much so that San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance founder Owen Geronimo decided to reserve Tuesday night for a San Francisco Fashion Week Fashion + Tech Expo and Saturday for the Innovation Management Institute’s Future of Fashion Gameference.
Both events promise a chance to rattle around in the digitally stylish realm with fashion startups, up-and-coming ecommerce companies, tech-savvy bloggers and brands. Pop by the SoMa event on Tuesday night to for a panel discussion featuring Manish Chandra of Poshmark, Wanelo’s Deena Varshavskaya and Bonfaire’s Shari Gunn Rudolph, among others, as well as demo tables from Stylet.ag, Copious, My HD Presenter, Snob Swap and many others.
On Saturday, the gameference is on. Attendees are in for a day-long interactive experience involving teams, competition and a multi-level game exploring the future of fashion.
