Apply Yourself: Pitch SF Startup Competition

Posted on December 28, 2012 by Lorraine Sanders in Digital Style News No Comments

There’s still time to apply for the upcoming Pitch SF Startup Competition taking place in February. During the event, eight startups will compete by pitching live in front of a panel of judges that includes XG Ventures’ Andrea Zurek, Floodgate’s Ann Miura-Ko, Christine Herron of Intel Capital, AngelList’s Kevin Laws and AngelPad’s Thomas Korte.

Only two startups have been named official competitors thus far and one of those has ties to the fashion and technology space: Maker’s Row, a site that connects designers with manufacturers through an online, video-friendly platform, was the first startup tapped for this year’s competition. Just before the holidays, HealthyOut was added to the line-up. Six more will join them in the coming weeks, and there’s still time to apply if you’re an early stage startup with at least one woman on the founding team.

The startup that emerges victorious will be gifted with a meeting with an investing partner from Andreessen Horowitz, as well as “a host of startup-friendly services.” Along with that, participants will also snag the exposure that goes along with being promoted in the run-up to the event from Women2.0, a respected organization working to further the presence of women in the tech sector.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
