Digital Beauty: What Your Face, a Hollywood Billboard & the Oscars Have in Common

Posted on January 14, 2013 by Lorraine Sanders in Beauty, Digital Style News No Comments

The Smashbox spring 2013 collection was created with artist Curtis Kulig, best known for his Love Me project.

The new promo from Smashbox launching on Facebook today is a beauty-meets-tech experiment that’s emblematic of the sort of fun, social things a company can put together these days to leverage digital technology and social media to engage its audience. Starting today, visitors to the Smashbox Facebook page can create their own branded “billboard” for use on their profile using a photo of their choice and the beauty brand’s new Love Me collection, created in conjunction with artist Curtis Kulig, of Love Me project fame.

While that part might be fun for diehard Smashbox loyalists, the really cool part is this: billboards created in the coming weeks will not only appear on their creators’ Facebook profiles, but also on the Smashbox digital billboard located at the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard during Oscar week this year. According to the info I’ve received, you’ll get an approximate time and a way to view the billboard via Livestream so you can see your creation when it goes live and share it with others. Participants will also have a chance to win products from the collection. Not a bad way to be a little part of the Oscars, no?
