Shopping the runway continues to evolve with each new installment of New York Fashion Week. New attempts to make the promise of buying apparel just after it appears on the runway crop up each season, and, even though the practice is still essentially a novelty, it’s one that points to the ever-quickening pace of fashion’s path from designer to consumer these days.
On Thursday, one of the latest – and most exciting (largely because of the designer involved) – opps to buy straight from the runway drops thanks to a collaboration between Carolina Herrera and ShopBazaar.com. As the designer’s Spring 2013 collection makes its way down the runway during a special show for American Express card holders at Lincoln Center, five looks styled by Harper’s Bazaar editors will become available in the magazine’s online shop.
Note that this isn’t a fall collection – so what you’d be buying here is actually something you’d wear now (one of the obvious problems with shopping NYFW runway collections is, of course, that you’d be buying clothing meant to be worn six months hence. And then there are the related production issues, which are an entirely different story and added complication).
The pieces available for purchase range from $280 to $1,275. View the entire Carolina Herrera Collection on ShopBazaar.com.
