But I’ve generally yawned at most online video shopping attempts. And anyway, who has the time?? I’ve been aware of Joyus since its launch, actually wrote about the company for the San Francisco Chronicle back in 2011 (gasp, where does the time go?). I had not checked it out for a while until recently, when an email from the company prompted me to go back and hunt around a little – and bam. I had to sit on my hands (but not in a weird way) to avoid buying both items in this video. I still might. I just can’t get the Bella Luxx waffle scoop neck sweater out of my head. The video is that compelling. The most convincing part? It didn’t really try that hard to convince, but just laid out this particular top’s myriad enviable qualities. It didn’t feel like an awkward sales pitch. Better yet, the shirt’s best features really do sound like great features. It made me feel educated about why I would possibly spend $148 on a waffle scoop sweater with figure-flattering side vents and a classic casual front punctuated by a standout-from-the-crowd silk back panel.
If this is a hint at the future of online video shopping, count me as far less skeptical now. And maybe even smitten. And maybe (though not yet) out $148.
